The purpose of the High School Honor Band Festival is to recognize the outstanding achievements of student musicians, serve as an outreach for the promotion of concert band music in our region, and introduce students to all that Alabama State University offers in the area of Music. The festival will include showcase concerts by current ASU students, masterclass sessions on each instrument taught by ASU faculty, and a finale concert featuring the festival participants.

In addition to providing this unique honor band performance opportunity, we also use the weekend to evaluate and audition 12th-grade students who have expressed interest in attending ASU. Students interested in auditioning for a scholarship should prepare two contrasting pieces (one technical and one lyrical) in addition to all twelve major scales.
