Thank you for your interest in the Alabama State University Honor Band Festivals. The purpose of the Honor Band Festivals is to recognize the outstanding achievements of student musicians, to serve as an outreach for the promotion of concert band music in our region, and to introduce students to all that Alabama State University offers in the area of Music. The festivals will include a showcase concert by current ASU students, masterclass sessions on each instrument taught by ASU faculty, and a finale concert featuring the festival participants.

Band directors may use the links below to complete recommendations for their students. Selected students will be notified of their acceptance via email. At that time, a detailed information packet will be sent, including the complete festival schedule, lodging options for out-of-town students, and music excerpts for seating auditions. There will be a participation fee of $50 per student, payable upon arrival on campus for the festival via cash or check (made out to ASU Foundation, with "Music" in the memo line). Band directors may also pay for all of their students online at https://fundraise.givesmart.com/e/ZUuSBg?vid=1kbqx4, selecting "Music Department" as the Gift Designation, and providing the receipt at registration or emailing it to rgreene@alasu.edu.

In addition to providing this unique honor band performance opportunity, we also use the weekend to evaluate and audition 12th-grade students who have expressed interest in attending ASU as music majors (Music Education or Music Performance). Students interested in auditioning for a scholarship should prepare two contrasting pieces (one technical and one lyrical) in addition to all twelve major scales. At ASU, we are always excited to work with the outstanding students who attend the Honor Band, and we look forward to providing a musically rewarding experience for all involved.
